This is not the case with the Eastern High Sierra of California. For years I have read the lofty language about the soaring peaks, fall foliage, and pristine alpine lakes of God's country, thinking that there might be some exaggeration involved. Not so. My first visit there, in mid-October, instead convinced me that language is inadequate to describe this place. In fact, as I stood looking across North Lake toward the mountains that first morning, my immediate thought was that this was the most beautiful sight I had ever seen! It made me realize that we bandy about words like "awesome" too often because they were really made for times like these.

Lake Tahoe and Eagle Falls https://www.djscenicphoto.com/blog/2015/9/lake-tahoe-and-eagle-falls The raindrops started as we were unloading the car, having just arrived for our 4 day vacation at Lake Tahoe, California. An hour later we were cowering in our room, listening to thunder, and watching the parking lot becoming obscured by hail. The first thought was “what great timing for a photography trip”. As it turned out, we had beautiful mornings, stormy afternoons, and mild evenings. There were some great windows of opportunity for sunrise and sunset shots. The Lake Tahoe area is simply gorgeous. The photos were taken with a Nikon D610 with a 16-35 lens on 7/6/15.
